A New Branch--KALLIDAIKURICHI The new Jana Kalyan Sevashram Premises was inaugurated at Kallidaikurichi in Tirunelveli District on 2/3/4/ & 5th. April 2005 with Religious fan fare and with the active participation of the locals. A group of 50 persons, (ladies & children included) set off from Mumbai to Kallidaikurichi for the inauguration. The inauguration process at the ashram started on 02/04/05 with a Ganapathi Havan followed by Navagraha Havan and Vaastu Santhi Havan. These fire witnessed rituals were over by 0200pm and all had lunch. On 03 /04/ 05, a tour by bus
was arranged to the nearby places like Ambasamudram, Papanasam,
Tenkasi, & Courtalam. After lunch a visit to Kanyakumari
rock temple and On 04 /04 /05. Ekadasa Rudraabhishekam was conducted with Mahanyasam & Trisati Archana. After lunch, ladies conducted, Sampaoorna Narayaneeyam. On 05 /04 /05, a visit to Nellai Appar and Kanthimati Amman and Nava Tirupti temples and in the evening Tiruchendur Murugan was arranged.
KALLIDAIKURICHI ALSO KNOWN AS KALYANAPURI Legend: Once up on a Time, The Jagadguru Sankaracharya was on his pada yatra. He heard the sound of Nathaswaram kalyana pattu (marriage songs). He enquired and came to know that he was approaching Kallidaikurichi. He gave a new name to this town as KALYANAPURI. The Place: Kallidaikurichi is a small rural town in Tirunelveli
District and is 70 km north of Kanyakumari in
South India. Located on the right bank of The Manimuttraru
river joins with Tamiraparani
at Chinna Sankarankoil, 3 KM west of Kallidaikurichi.
On the way to Manimuttrau Dam & water falls 6 KM from this
town, there is a place called Therku Papangulam.
The Occupation: Paddy is the main crop cultivated here.
The APPLAM (Pappad)
making is the cottage industry in this town.
Apart from this, this town has donated many great industrialists
to the nation. Mr.Sankaralingam Iyer of India Cements, Mr Eswara Iyer of
Tirunelveli and Palayamkottai are 35 km
away from Kallidaikurichi. Nearby airports are Madurai, about 250
km and Thiruvananthapuram, about 145 km. Easily Accessible from all the
places in Indian Union by railway and road.
